What is Secondary DLA?
Secondary Dislocation Allowance (DLA) rates apply when a PCS order is amended, modified, canceled, or revoked to direct a Service member to return to their old Permanent Duty Station (PDS) or proceed to a different PDS.
Eligibility (JTR 050507)
- You are eligible if you or a dependent moved from your residence before the date the order was amended, modified, canceled, or revoked.
- If you complete a move to a new location and are then ordered to return or go elsewhere, a DLA is payable for each move.
- No more than two DLAs are authorized in this scenario.
Allowances
A DLA for the first move (from old PDS to new location) is paid using the Primary DLA rate. A second DLA using the Secondary DLA rate (calculated above) is paid for the move to the location directed in the amended, modified, canceled, or revoked order.
